The Schulteis siblings, Richard, Victoria and Antonia, have enjoyed a fantastic start in the Euro Cup which is currently being held in Kiel, Germany, this weekend.
The annual sailing competition, which is held every year in the city of Kiel, capital of Schleswig-Holstein in Germany, is regarded as the largest sailing event in the world.
Malta is being represented by Richard, Victoria and Antonia Schulteis and the Malta Young Sailing Club sailors have certainly impressed after the opening day of competition.
In fact, Richard Schulteis and his sailing partner Max Korner, are currently leading the way in the 29er class after winning the opening two regattas. He was disqualified in the third race but that had little influence on his final standings after Day One as he is leading the way with two net points.
Danish sailors Jens-Christian Dehn-Toftehoj and Jens-Philip Dehn-Toftehoj are sharing second spot with fellow compatriots Malthe Ebdrup and Peter Joos with three net points.
Anthonia Schulteis is racing with Ole Ulrich and has also enjoyed a bright start. In fact, after placing tenth in the opening regatta, they managed to place second in the next two races for a total of four net points that lifted them to fifth place in the standings.
A total of 93 teams are competing in their class.
On the other hand, Victoria Schulteis is racing alongside Maren Edland and the duo have also excelled on the opening day of the 49erFX class.
In fact, Schulteis and Edland won the opening regatta but then could only finish 23rd in the second race. However, they quickly recovered their poise after placing third in race three to end the day in second place on three net points.
Spain’s Tamara Echegoyen and Paula Barcelo, winner of the opening two regattas, are leading the standings on two net points. On the other hand, Britain’s Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey are third on five net points.
A total of 51 teams are competing in the 49erFX class.
