Floriana re-appoint Potenza as first-team coach

Vincenzo Potenza is back at Floriana FC as the Italian mentor was reappointed as first-team coach, the Times of Malta can confirm.

The Greens are looking to install a new first-team coach following the resignation of John Buttigieg who stepped away from the job following the Greens 3-1 defeat to Sta Lucia in the FA Trophy.

Incidentally, Buttigieg had been given the reins of the team late last year following the sudden resignation of Potenza.

Last week, Potenza had told The Times of Malta that he would only accept the job if certain issues at the club are resolved by the hierarchy.

“I had a lengthy conversation with Johann Said and I made it clear to him that I will only return to the club if a number of issues are resolved.

“When I resigned from the club earlier this season, there were a number of things that I had asked the club to take care of which unfortunately were not resolved. Now, these issues have increased and I told Floriana that I will only return if the majority of these issues are tackled.”

It is understood that some of these issues have been addressed by the club, paving the way for Potenza to reunite with his players.

For Potenza this will be his second spell at the club after last season he led the Greens to the Premier League title.
