Vincenzo Potenza unlikely to be offered new contract by Floriana FC

Vincenzo Potenza is unlikely to be reconfirmed as Floriana FC coach, the Times of Malta can confirm.

The Italian coach had been at the helm of the Greens for the majority of the past two seasons but his contract expired at the end of 2020-21 campaign and it looks unlikely that he will be offered a new contract.

Potenza joined Floriana at the start of the 2019-20 season and led the Greens to the league title in his first year charge.

However last season, Floriana experienced a very difficult campaign and Potenza stepped down of the job in December and was replaced by John Buttigieg.

The former Malta coach failed to revive the club’s fortunes and also stepped down from the job with Potenza returning to the job and help the Greens to secure Premier League survival.

Sources have told Times of Malta that since the end of the season, there has been no contact between the club and Potenza and it is unlikely that he will be offered a new contract.

In fact, Floriana are currently scouring the market to find a new first-team coach as they are planning a major squad overhaul in a bid to restore the team among the main title challengers next season.
