Martina Borg’s Sassari Torres are one game away from clinching Serie B promotion after their Roma Decimoquarto win combined with Bologna’s surprising loss at Pistoiese.
With the Serie C season set to finish next season, Sassari have moved to 55 points, opening a three-point lead over Bologna and Arezzo, who will meet in next Sunday’s season finale .
Sassari eased past Roma Decimoquarto 5-1 with Malta women’s international player Borg given the nod at the heart of the midfield.
The Sardegna-based side will hope to reach their promotion objective in their away game at Ducato Spoleto, who are bottom in the league.
