Malta Motorsport Federation team up with Austria’s BG Sportpromotion

The Malta Motorsport Federation has teamed up with Austrian motorsport experts BG Sportpromotion who will be helping the Maltese governing body in the organisation of its racing events and media promotion.

Christoph Gerlach, Managing Director at BG Sportpromotion GmbH was delighted with the partnership with the MM.

“We are delighted to have found an extremely motivated business partner in the Malta Motorsport Federation, with whom we are aiming for a long-term collaboration,” he said.

“We recognise the potential that motorsport has on the Mediterranean island and will use our know-how to help Malta secure a strong position on the motorsport map. Every strengthened national motorsport federation also brings new momentum to European motorsport as a whole.”

On is part Duncan Micallef, the MMF president said: “The Maltese motorsport community have for decades been achieving impressive results in all disciplines. Results to be commended, considering the fact that we have no circuit or homologated venues.

“A community of home-grown achievers in the sport, capable of competing at international level.

“With this alliance with BG Sportpromotion we take our achievements to the next level by flying our flag a main flag at an International event, and more so run by our dedicated officials.”

In October, the FIA Central European Zone circuit racing event at the Hungaroring will mark the first highlight.

“The Malta Motorsport Federation (MMF) not only wants to intensify its cooperation with continental Europe, but it also plans to strengthen its position within the FIA Central European Zone,” a statement said.

“The federation’s existing motorsport events on the island are to be expanded and new events are to be launched. Therefore, MMF relies on the international expertise of BG Sportpromotion in the business areas of consulting, events, incentives, academy and media.

“Furthermore, the bilateral partnership between the Austrian Motorsport Federation AMF and the Malta Motorsport Federation can be extended. Cooperation is considered here, for example, in the sporting handling of motorsport events of all kinds.”

The first highlight of the cooperation between the Malta Motorsport Federation and BG Sportpromotion will be a race event of the FIA Central European Zone from October 1 and 3 at the Hungaroring, which will be run under the sporting authority of Malta.

The race will be part of a new motorsport event series called XLR8, which has its inaugural meeting last weekend at the Salzburgring in Austria.
