Depiro BC have extended coach James Bamfield’s contract, the club announced in a statement on Friday.
Bamfield, who is currently coaching the Welsh national team retains his position at the Mtarfa club after having been with the side since last season. Depiro sounded their enthusiasm, saying that they are “happy to invest in top level coaches that will help our youths to develop in the long term athletic development”.
Speaking to the club’s socials, Bamfield said: “I’m pleased to have agreed to continue to progress the project here at Depiro.
“We introduced several young Maltese players to the senior side last season and this year will see other young players given an opportunity.
“It’s a good fit to be able to work at u19/23 level as well to provide continuity in concepts, principles, and values. We will work hard to be the best version of ourselves both on and off the court.”
Last season under Bamfield, Depiro ended the season in fourth place with a 4-3 record when the league was halted prematurely after COVID-19 restrictions.
