
The 26th meeting of the season held on Sunday afternoon at the Marsa Racetrack heralded the start of the Prix De Vincennes championship for Premier class trotters on a short distance of 2140m. From these heats, 24 trotters made it to the semifinal stage. These championships for French trotters are being organised once again with the financial support of the French Association Le Trot.
In the first heat, French newcomer Dandy De Godrel (Michael Ellul) was outsmarted by Dunbar (Redent Magro) exactly on the finishing line. Dunbar sealed its second win of the year with Virus (Charles Degiorgio) and Djembe Du Pont (Jesmar Gafa’) ending respectively in third and fourth place from Cimarron (Noel Baldacchino) and Ciel Boreal (Carmelo Farrugia).
Coumba Kuky (George Attard) increased its pace during the last 600 metres of the second Premier class heat. This French mare registered its first win in Malta after increasing her pace during the last 600 metres. Doudou De Bouere (Jean Claude Pace), Dream De Lasserie (Clint Vassallo), Crack Du Tillet (Andrew Farrugia), Crusoe d’Anama (Charles Camilleri) and Capitaine France (Rodney Gatt) followed home in that order.
In the third Premier class heat, Aster Des Caillons (Charles Degiorgio) led all the way and took its first win of the year after sustaining the challenge of Dream (Ludvic Ghigo) and Baxter Du Klau (Noel Baldacchino) in the final straight. Baron De Majuag (Alessandro Grech), Alf De Melandre (Rodney Gatt) and Bolero Du Sablier (Clint Vassallo) also obtained a good place.
Bambino Des Flots (Noel Baldacchino) took its second win in Malta in the fourth and last Premier clas heat. This French trotter was unchallenged during the last 400 metres and past the finishing post first from Be Bop Meslois (Herman McKay), Coeur De Loup (Rodney Gatt), Vichenko Chef (Paul Galea), Vangiskan Scott (Charles Camilleri) and Cristal Pierji (George Attard).
Another meeting at the Marsa Racetrack will be held on Sunday. The first race should start at 14.00.
