A tough draw awaits Malta champions Hibernians in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League should they manage to overcome Ireland’s Shamrock Rovers.
In fact, Hibernians could face Bulgarian champions Ludogorets if they manage to advance at the expense of Shamrock Rovers, champions of Ireland in 2021.
Since 2013/2014, Ludogorets have played in the group stages of a UEFA club competition on eight occasions including in last season’s UEFA Europa League where they met Braga, Red Star Belgrade and Midtyjlland.
In the draws held on Wednesday, the tie involving Shamrock Rovers and Hibernians was drawn against Ludogorets or FK Sutjeska of Montenegro.
The winner of Shamrock Rovers vs Hibernians will play the first leg away from home.
The ties for the second qualifying round are July 19/20 for the first leg while the second leg is pencilled for July 26/27.
