Mosta progressed to the semi-finals of the IZIBET FA Trophy after cruising past San Ġwann with an emphatic 5-0 scoreline at the Centenary Stadium.
Goals came flowing for Joseph Grech’s side while San Ġwann struggled to make inroads into the game.
As expected, Mosta were the dominant side in the opening stages, but it was San Ġwann who ran their first attack on 12 minutes when a Gonzalo Virano free-kick reached Myron Micallef but his header was easily collected by goalkeeper Andreas Vella.
On 18 minutes, Mosta could have opened proceedings when Micheal Okoh beat San Gwann shotstopper Jake Pisani to a throughball but his shot ricocheted off a defender, falling instead to Kaishu Yamazaki whose effort found Pisani ready to block.
Pisani was called upon again five minutes later as he held onto a Christ Ememe header.
Mosta was clearly the better side and Okoh put Mosta ahead after 27 minutes with a chipped ball which was deflected past Pisani and into the net.
On 32 minutes, Ferebory Dore made it two for Mosta when a corner went straight towards the second post and the Congolian rose above all else to power into the net.
Steve Kingue added another on 39 minutes as Mosta continued to assert their dominance. With San Ġwann still pinned inside their half, Kingue met a cross with an easy header as referee Darryl Agius waved play on after calls for offside.
After the break, San Ġwann looked to stage a fight back as Mosta looked a bit more relaxed as they relied on their three first-half goals.
However, a mistake in midfield created a counterattack opportunity for Mosta and Dore made the most out of a hesitation from Pisani to hit low into the net and get his brace.
San Ġwann could have found a consolation goal just past the hour when Gianluca Zammit fired from close range but Vella was on hand to block the effort to preserve his clean sheet.
On 71 minutes, Okoh could have doubled his tally with an effort from inside the area but Pisani cleared away for a corner.
The game was well out of reach by the 79th minute when a swift team play lead to Bradley Farrugia firing a cannon of a shot which slammed the post but the rebound fell to Christ Ememe who hit straight into the top corner.
Mosta held on with their lead intact and their passage to the next round secure.
